  • Vet and onboard all new carriers and maintain vetting of approved carriers utilizing various systems for contract management, insurance monitoring and equipment capture
  • Monitor carriers' compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including but not limited to FMCSA regulations, safety standards, and insurance requirements
  • Identify and mitigate any potential risk associated with any potential or existing carrier to include but not limited to double-brokering, identity theft, fraud, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date carrier records, including insurance certificates, operating authorities, and licenses
  • Conduct audits and performance evaluations of carriers (minimum quarterly) to identify areas for improvement and ensure their commitment to quality service
  • Utilize various transportation management systems (TMS) and other software tools to track and manage carrier compliance data
  • Ensure that transportation operations align with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives when applicable
  • Identify, research, and onboard new carriers to expand company's carrier network, conducting due diligence to ensure the meet safety and performance standards
  • Consult with Management team and Business Development re: strategic capacity needs and identify carriers to align with those needs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing carriers, serving as the primary point of contact for any carrier related issues or inquiries; intervene in service situations to ensure customer satisfaction and to maintain carrier relations
  • Address and resolve compliance issues or disputes with carriers, and collaborate with other teams within the company to find solutions
  • Optimize carrier utilization to minimize transportation costs while maintaining service quality
  • Generate regular reports and key performance indicators to evaluate the health of the carrier network and identify areas for improvement
  • Stay updated on industry trends, carrier market conditions, and regulatory changes to make informed decisions
Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
    • Experience in transportation brokerage, carrier management, or logistics operations a plus
    • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
    • Knowledge of carrier sourcing tools including but not limited to DAT
    • Ability to develop and/or to respond to RFPs
    • Familiarity with transportation management software (TMS) compliance, and other relevant tools
    • Proven knowledge of and ability to work with MS Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, and with web-based automated management systems a plus
    • Proficient in data analysis and reporting
  • Proven, quality written and verbal communication skills
