Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in highway, bridge, and rail infrastructure design to join our growing team in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will lead and support the planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and analysis of bridges, retaining walls, culverts , and other transportation-related structures for highway, rail, and transit projects .
• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams through all phases of project delivery — from conceptual design to construction support.
• Perform structural calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, MIDAS, LARSA 4D, etc.).
• Review and develop construction documents , including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets , and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with AASHTO, AREMA, MassDOT, MBTA , and other applicable codes and standards.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Participate in business development, proposal writing, and client presentations as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required in MA or ability to obtain within 6 months; SE license is a plus .
• 10+ years of relevant experience in structural design for transportation infrastructure , with a focus on bridge and rail systems .
• Proven experience with MassDOT , MBTA , and Amtrak projects preferred.
• Proficient in structural design and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, Civil 3D, OpenBridge Designer ).
• Strong understanding of load rating, seismic analysis , and life-cycle cost evaluation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience working on Design-Build or P3 infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with NEPA , environmental permitting, and public involvement processes.
• Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., ASCE, AREMA, SEI).
