1Phi is a new startup building a first of its kind AI-powered healthcare navigator, called 1Sage, that lets patients find the treatment options with the best clinical outcomes for their unique situation. It continuously monitors and trains on billions of medical records across over 100 million patients nationwide and over 1 million doctors and medical facilities. Patients simply chat with 1Sage, indicating their circumstances and needs. The more information they provide, the better the insights.

Requirements 🤓

What You’ll Do

• Build our first production-ready full stack application, evolving our prototype (built on an LLM chat bot design pattern) into a scalable, secure platform.
• Own the full stack: front-end user interface, back-end APIs, and integrations across data and AI components. Build interactive inline UI widgets, including tables, forms and maps.
• Collaborate with the data engineer (pipelines, claims data) and AI engineer (model training, inference, streaming LLM responses) to connect the pieces into a seamless patient experience.
• Design and implement secure workflows for patients to input health history and receive treatment options and provider recommendations.
• Establish coding standards, testing practices, CI/CD, and technical architecture for the team to grow on.

You're a fit if:

• If you’re a recent grad: BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science or other STEM field from a competitive university program. At least one demonstrable successful project from an internship or personal experimentation outside of a classroom setting.
• If you’re an experienced candidate: Relevant work with at least 2 years with a single employer and at least one major successful implementation you can discuss.
• At least one significant successful project in production (outside of classroom) that you can demonstrate.
• Experience with full stack development with modern frameworks (React/Vue + Node.js/Python, or similar).
• Experience with APIs, authentication/authorization, and integrating third-party services.
• Comfortable working with databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Thrive in early-stage chaos and high-impact roles, rather than climbing the corporate ladder or incremental changes.

Even better if:

• Experience with rapid deployment tools (Vercel, Netlify, etc.) for quick feature testing.
• Experience with cloud vendors: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands on with AI/LLM tools, such as Cursor.AI and Claude Code.
• Familiarity with WebSockets, streaming APIs, realtime voice/WebRTC
• DevOps / infra-as-code familiarity.

Salary: $55k-$120k depending on experience and skills

Location: Chicago office 🏢 (Not remote)
