Jr. Data Scientist / AI Engineer

Brooksource is looking for an entry-level Data Scientist to join our Public Sector client in July 2025. As an Entry-Level Data Scientist, you’ll be joining a dynamic analytics team engaged in cutting-edge AI initiatives. You’ll support active projects to build AI-driven solutions like policy chatbots and machine learning models, working within platforms such as Snowflake. This role provides hands-on opportunities in Python, SQL, and Tableau while building valuable experience in cross-functional communication, business analysis, and agile development workflows.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics or related field
• Proficiency in Python for programming, data analysis, and modeling
• Experience with SQL for querying databases
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Understanding of basic machine learning concepts and statistical methods
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn both business and software solutions
• Ability to build strong partnerships to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas.
• Knowledge of AI/Machine Learning concepts through coursework, capstones, or internships

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop technical solutions based upon user specifications and technology frameworks
• Build machine learning models to uncover patterns and generate predictions
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions
• Support AI development tasks such as building or modifying chatbot solutions and data workflows using Python and SQL
• Contribute to ongoing AI focused projects - including fraud detection, claims policy chatbots, and HR reporting tools
• Use GitHub and Kanban boards to track tasks and contribute to the full development cycle—expectations, development, testing, and production
